Lunar

This wide angle image (cropped) of the February 20th 2008 Lunar Eclipse was taken by John Noon using a Nikon D50 digital SLR camera in manual mode @ F32 for 10 seconds. Not only was the eclipse captured but Saturn is also visible on the lower left side. In addition the bright blue star Regulus can be seen directly above the moon. Regulus which is 3-1/2 times larger than our Sun is aprox 77.5 light years away and has a rotation rate of just under 16 hours. Image is property of John Noon and is used here with permission. 2/23/08 11:04 AM
